4.19 Ku I Ka Pili Koko translated by CBS to Blood Brothers

Ku I Ka Pili Koko” – Five-0 is set up when a bad tip leads them to an abandoned building that is rigged to explode with McGarrett and Danny trapped inside, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, April 11

So, this show was named the bromance episode of the season. Even Peter Lenkov called it a McDanno episode. Which I think was not a clever move. If the definition of McDanno is the same as the one for McRoll, well, I’m sorry, but that McDanno is just not there. And never will be. Those two guys will never end up in a romantic relationship.

If your definition of McDanno is friendship and partnership between Steve and Danny, than I’m all with you.

But really, Mr. EP, please don’t feed the haters on either side. It’s bad enough as it is. People are hurting, don’t fuel the fire.

That said, let’s see what this episode brought us. Was it satisfying for all sides? All the shippers and non-shippers out there?

Edit April 21: You know, I really wished that people who vote an episode as really to forget about it had the balls to tell us why! I’m always interested in knowing why people like or more so don’t like something. Why not voice your opinion? Nobody here is going to harass you for it. Everyone is welcome to share their view. That is what this blog is all about. If you don’t like something… say so.

Internal Affairs questions Chin about his father’s murder 15 years earlier and how his then-new relationship with Malia and her family might have hurt the investigation.

So far the press release for the episode 4.13 Hana Lokimaikai’i – translated to The Favor by CBS.

During the episode I had the feeling this was not about that at all. But we come to that later. First let’s do the poll.

Hawaii Five-0 – 4.11 – Pukana – Keepsake

a review by COKIE

Sam has graciously asked me to review Episode 11 of Hawaii Five-0 which premiered on December 20, titled Pukana.

First off, it was a Christmas episode. I heard the holiday music and I saw the decorations. Other than that, was there really anything dealing with Christmas? Yes, it showed Danny and Grace at the end and she was opening a gift. But I was hoping for a bit more Christmas shown. Although I suppose there were some Christmas miracles involved in the show.

At 7.55 a.m. on December 7th 1941 the Japanese Empire started their attack on Pearl Harbor. A day as then president Franklin D. Roosevelt named ‘a date which will live in infamy’. The attack killed almost 3,000 military personnel and civilians, destroyed or damaged 16 warships, including almost all battleships. It threw the United Stated into WWII and affected millions of people in a huge way.

Many films were made about this day; some really good, some not so much. Now Five-0 took on the task of trying to do it justice.

Let’s start with information about Thanksgiving in the United States for all the non-US-readers.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. It has been an annual tradition since 1863, when, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens”, to be celebrated on Thursday, November 26. As a federal and public holiday in the U.S., Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays of the year. Together with Christmas and New Year, Thanksgiving is a part of the broader holiday season.

American football is an important part of many Thanksgiving celebrations in the United States. Professional football games are often held on Thanksgiving Day; until recently, these were the only games played during the week apart from Sunday or Monday night. The National Football League has played games on Thanksgiving every year since its creation. The Detroit Lions have hosted a game every Thanksgiving Day since 1934, with the exception of 1939–1944 (due to World War II). In 1966, the Dallas Cowboys, who had been founded six years earlier, adopted the practice of hosting Thanksgiving games. It is widely rumored that the Cowboys sought a guarantee that they would regularly host Thanksgiving games as a condition of their very first one (since games on days other than Sunday were uncommon at the time and thus high attendance was not a certainty).

Before we start with the review let me say that I don’t think I ever smiled, giggled and laughed out loud as much during an episode of Hawaii Five-0 as I did this time. This was such a fun show to watch, so I hope you will have at least a little fun reading the review.

Normally we get the Crime Of The Week in the first few minutes of an episode, and it looked like it would be the same this time around. But very soon it became clear that was not the case.

We are in Tokyo and for the first time in many weeks we see Kono reunited with Five-0, well, sort of.

The four Five-0, NinjaSteve, NinjaChin, NinjaCath and NinjaKono, kidnapped Sato to learn where Adam is, or if he even is still alive. And can I just say how absolutely great they all looked? Yes, even the nice looking baddie. So much pretty in one place, damn. 🙂

This episode was for sure anticipated by many. Not just to see what would happen with Catherine’s investigation into the Adam/Kono storyline, but mostly because of the ‘baby-pictures’. And of course the cute sneak peek.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, let’s start at the beginning. And what a nice beginning it was. Catherine was getting ready for her undercover job to find out the whereabouts of Sato, the guy who took Adam. A short question here. Why do they even think that he’s still alive? And if he is, why is that? I mean we learned that there was a price on his head, and the last guys trying to kill him where not there to take him into custody. They would have killed Adam and Kono without any questions asked. So, why would Sato keep him alive for so long now? Doesn’t make much sense to me. But since the whole Adam/Kono thing doesn’t make any sense to me, better not dwell on it. 😉

I’m not a big fan of Halloween in general. I find it rather weird having kids running around in costumes and take candy from strangers. Many believe Halloween originated in the US and then came over to Europe. They couldn’t be more wrong about that. If you like to know what Halloween is actually about you should read the article on wikipedia, it’s pretty good.

And no, it’s not about getting drunk and dance to wild party music. 😉

Now let’s start with the episode review for 4.05 – Kupu’eu  – Fallen Hero

I think the expectations for this episode were almost as high as for 3.20, the episode that brought us the events that lead to the pilot and explained a lot about our SEAL. I also made the mistake to expect an equally epic episode, and was fairly disappointed. But let’s not jump the gun and try to forget what I expected and take a look at what the show actually gave us.

Maybe my verdict will be different at the end of this review than it was right after I watched the show for the first time. 😉
