Celebrating Five-0
“Wow !”
That was the email Cokie sent me after seeing the last two episodes. You see, she can’t tell me much without spoiling it because I watch the eps a little later than she does. So, she has to be creative to tell me what she thought about it without giving anything away. And I have to tell you she always does a good job with that. 🙂
Five Years – part 5
Sadly, while writing the first four parts of this ‘look back’ I realized that season five simply couldn’t hold the high standard the previous seasons set for the show.
I know I have complained about a lot of things this season, about scenes, about character development, or the lack of. About rewriting Five-0 history, and about many other things. But I’ll do that purely out of love for the show. Despite all that is wrong with this season (at least in my eyes), Five-0 still is my favorite show. And I love it with all my heart.
Yes, the main reason, at times the only reason, for that is Steve McGarrett. And if he’s not himself because someone never ever watching an episode before wrote his charater 😉 than there is still Alex who always saves the day. His performances have always been flawless.
Thanks to AOLww (THE best place for all things AOL) for the wonderful pictures.
Five Years – part 4
After the hiatus the production again started with a blessing, which I think is a great tradition they are honoring. And later there was another SOTB.
Five Years – part 3
So, after another long hiatus, and not knowing who would die and who would live (as if that was ever a question), season three started. And as the years before, they participated in a blessing ceremony. There were some really nice scenes and great interviews. Also later we got a nice SOTB, also with good interviews and great coverage of the event.

Five years – part 2
Welcome to the second part of celebrating five years of Hawaii Five-0.
I have to confess that I have a real problem watching season 2. And I’m sad about that because there are some really good episodes, but I have a hard time watching Alex O getting sicker and sicker. At some point when the show first aired it got really painful to watch it. I felt so sad that he had to go through some obviously serious problems. When he finally was able to get out and get help, I was so glad.
And when he came back, happy, healthy and stronger than ever, I was the happiest person.

With season 2 came a bunch of new promo pictures. Sadly, that was the last photo shoot for a long while. And with it also came a new cast member. One I never understood the reason for. Yeah, yeah, she was there to be the eyes and ears for the Governor. But she never really did that job. So, why was she on Five-0? Anyway, let’s first enjoy some great pictures.
Five years – part 1
It’s almost unbelievable that season 5 of Five-0 will come to an end in just a couple of days. This might be the perfect time to reflect on the past seasons.
Today I’ll bring you a few highlights (at least from my point of view) from season one, tomorrow we’ll move to seasons two, three and four, and yes, you guessed it, Friday will be all about the latest season.
5.23 – quick review
5.23 Mo’o ’olelo Pu
When Kono goes on a solo outrigger trip around the Hawaiian islands in honor of her mother, she hits a patch of wild weather and must fight to stay alive. Meanwhile Five-0 investigates a man busted for cooking meth who claims he receives a threat on his son’s life if he didn’t continue making the drug.
CBS translated Mo’o ’olelo Pu to Sharing Traditions
5.23 “Mo’o ‘olelo Pu” (Sharing Traditions)
Another GREAT one that doesn’t need any words. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Throwback Thursday!
I would absolutely love to have more ‘Steve on the water’ episodes. Either him being on a boat/ship, or diving, or doing any kind of water activity. Either while working or being ‘off-duty’.
I so wish the show would show us more of that. They are on an island, lots of water around. Why not show it more? Thanks for this great reminder.
