Guests on Five-0

If you remember, Sam promised that today we would have a post about “future guest stars she would love to see on Five-0”. That was her post, verbatim.

So far, she has come up with zilch. I suggested someone and suddenly, I was asked for a post for the blog. So, here it is. Very professional and very thought out… in the 20 seconds it took to type the above. 🙂

Have you had your thinking caps on? Who would you like to see on Season 9? Do you have a specific actor you would love to watch? Or do you have a character you would like to either see again or to introduce?

I thought of a couple I will throw out there.

First, I loved Jason Dohring and Alex playing in Moonlight together. I would love seeing Jason as a former Navy friend of Steve’s. A friend who (a) is good and doesn’t turn bad; and (b) doesn’t die. I would love a flashback, but have them friends in present day. You know Steve has friends in the Navy and also on the island. It would be fun to see some of them. NOT Dog… I’m not sure how he ended up on there.

My second thought for guest stars are none other than McBear and Captain Lou. I’m sure they could add a thing or two to the ensemble and teach Danny a thing or two about acting.

This is the episode we had the great pleasure visiting the set and watching part of the filming. After the episode has aired we will report about our day with Five-0.

Wishes for season 9

I know, it’s still a bit early for a wish list for season 9, since we don’t even know yet who will be part of it. I guess, Alex is a pretty sure bet. Anyone else is pure speculation at this point.

But one can wish, so here is my list.

The confirmation for season 9 is just in. 🙂

Congratulations to everyone involved in the show. Whatever you think of the one or other episode… nine seasons is an enormous accomplishment.

Personally, I am very happy to get another season. Of course, now we need to get the news that the right people have signed on for the new season. 😉

Let’s pic(k) Steve

I loved the McGarrett storyline. It was about time we got something like this again. The scene near the end, when Steve met all the victim’s family members was beautiful and very well acted by Alex O’Loughlin, with all his different emotions shown on his face. The ex-wife of the man who shot Danny comes to Oahu and reveals how Danny’s protection during a dangerous domestic dispute when he was in New Jersey helped save her life. Also, Tani and Junior are assigned to walk the beat as uniformed officers for the day, and Adam is framed for the murder of the crime boss he has been tracking, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, March 30 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The episode was directed by series star Alex O’Loughlin.

Let’s pic(k) Steve!

Episode 8.18

If only the writing of this show would be so exceptional as Alex O’Loughlin’s acting or directing…

I am completely in awe what AOL has done as an director and at the same time as an actor. That must have been really challenging.

The vibe of this episode was totally different than any other episode. He played with the light, the camera angle, the pace. When the cops got out of the car they were running towards the camera and the camera at the same time ‘ran’ towards the cops. That created more tension and action than any slow-motion could do it. You felt like being right there. Same goes with the blue room scenes. For example when Lou moved around Jessie’s back to the right the camera went to the left. That was perfect. Tension pure.

The whole chase scenes were terrific. Did we ever see Steve actually turning the wheel for the spins and turns in such a way? That felt so realistic and – again – put the viewers right into the scene. And the shower curtain scene was great. The look through that hole, so good. Loved all that!

The actress that played Brooke was amazing. She sold the pain, the self-doubt, the anger, the disgust and the hope. She owned the scenes she was in. The filming of the ashes gone with the wind was great. Kudos to Alex again.

I thought that most of the actors were even more in the moment, more in their scenes than normally. Especially with Chi, Ian and Christine I got the feeling they wanted to be extra special just because of Alex. He seemed to get them, he seems to be an actor director or better an actor’s director.

So the director O’Loughlin did it different, he changed the atmosphere, but he didn’t exaggerate. He didn’t get lost in it, he didn’t do too much. It felt like art, art-y but without the -ficial.

Very well done.

Hope he gets more chances to direct. That was outstanding and saved the show.
