Very cool spoiler via TV Guide

I must confess that I love SEAL Steve, so this is a great spoiler.

Here is what Peter Lenkov told TV Guide:

Executive producer Peter Lenkov tells us that there will be a McGarrett flashback late in the season that is actually a direct prequel to the pilot.

“The flashbacks take place hours before the pilot began in Korea,” Lenkov says. “You’ll get to see McGarrett in training as a Navy SEAL. The idea is that McGarrett had actually gone into North Korea with another Navy SEAL, a man who saved his life and was killed there.” So will we see familiar faces as well? “We’re hoping to bring back one of the Hesse brothers,” Lenkov says. “We’ll see what actually happened with Hesse in Korea.”

I think it can’t get much better than this. Am I biased? Hell yes! After all, Steve is my favorite character and in my eyes the most interesting one.

Monday-night changes

CBS completely changed their Monday-night program due to ‘Sandy’. I must say I have mixed feelings about that.

On the one hand I deeply feel for the people in the area affected by the storm, and I pray for them to be safe. And I count my blessings not to live in an area that has to face such devastating events. Hardly ever has. I’m sure at the moment they have bigger things on their minds than a TV schedule.

But on the other hand, I wonder why CBS changed their schedule. Because face it, the East Coast will not be back to normal on Tuesday or even Wednesday. How long is CBS going to plan not to show any new episodes of their shows? And quite frankly, the storm coverage, who was that for? Certainly not for the 7 million people on the East Coast who were or are without power? No, it was for us, the voyeurs watching big waves and flooded streets from our safe and dry houses.

So, excuse me if I wonder what the change was really about. We all know that TV is just about big money. And with that I don’t say that CBS doesn’t care about the people, I’m sure they do. But this was not because CBS wanted to make sure everyone can watch a new show.

BUT, I still commend them on their move. Whatever the reason, I’m sure the people not being able to watch are happy that they will get the chance to watch it next week. And the rest of us, not affected by the storm, can surely wait one week. I’m sure we will be happily sitting in front of our TV next week and enjoy the show.

It’s a boy

Update: The actor told reporters Saturday (and PEOPLE has confirmed with O’Loughlin’s rep) that his newborn son’s name is Lion.

Congratulations to Alex O’Loughlin and his partner Malia Jones.

Their son was born on October 25th 2012.

No name was given yet. I hope everyone his healthy and happy!

Spoiler for 3×11

We probably even have to wait until January for this to air, but I’m already excited.

Update: This will now be episode 3.10 and will air on December 03.

In episode 11, a bank heist goes wrong (and just as Max is about to connect with a new love interest!). In the aftermath, McGarrett is kidnapped by Cordova, a dangerous hitman wanted for at least twenty murders. Cordova doesn’t usually open up to men when he’s about to take their lives, but he starts talking when he finds out that McGarrett knows a secret about him.

Really short review for 3×04

I think it was a great episode, with some wonderful scenes in it.

• Love Cath and Steve, they are awesome.

• Christine Lathi does such a great job. What the heck is mom up to?

• Good for Steve not to trust her. I really like that.

• Danny, you’re such a girl. LOL

• Best line: Stop playing with your gun. 🙂

• Chin was great in his scenes with mom. But he fell a bit short in the ep.

• Loved bad cop Steve! Don’t mess with him.

All in all a really great episode with a pretty boring case, but the cases are not why I watch H50 in the first place.

I’ll give it a solid B+

LOL, FTW and Co.

Just a random look at abbreviations and other strange habits

For twenty odd years now I’m using Email and the Internet. And in all those years I never got comfortable using too many abbreviations. Or worse even short forms of ‘real’ words, like many do in their emails or text messages.

The first and most important reason in the beginning was: “What the heck are they trying to tell me?”

All those letters seemed just randomly put together and didn’t make any sense to me. Until I discovered they are a new language. Nowadays everyone uses those simple combinations like LOL or FTW or not so nice ones like WTF. Everyone knows what they mean. Do they really?

And then a couple of years back I started with Twitter. Boy that was like a totally new ballgame. How do you say what you want to say with just 140 letters? You have to get creative. And some are so creative that you can’t even understand what they are trying to say.

I understand the need to shorten words for Twitter, but why do people also do it in an Email? Come on, people, it is common courtesy to write in real words. Use your words.

A very special pet peeve of mine is writing everything in lower case letters. Please don’t do that. It might not be such a big deal in English, but trust me it’s a very big deal in German. I simply don’t understand why people can’t use the ‘shift’ button. It’s not that difficult, everyone should be able to do it.

If you like to look up some abbreviations here is the right site for you:
